The Bola Gun is a non-lethal anti-personnel weapon, originally designed by the Craftsman and later manufactured by HASH, that Sam can use to defend himself against enemies.

Corpus[]

A gun that launches binding wires capable of restraining targets. Their fibers have been processed to be effective against BTs.

Holding down the trigger will increase the weapon's firing range, allowing for more precise aiming. The bola gun makes makes very little noise when fired, allowing for stealthy takedowns. The wires cannot bind a target if they strike an obstacle mid-flight.

Notes[]

  • It is worth noting that the longer the trigger is held, the further the strands will travel and the wider their spread will be.
  • A shot to the head will stun a human target, but a shot to the body will require the user to knock them out or risk the target breaking free.
  • BTs immobilized by the strands will eventually break free, but remain visible to Sam even while moving or holding his breath. They will also become stained by Sam's blood and thus vulnerable to other, non-hematic weapons.
  • Bolas (Spanish for 'balls') were famously used by the gauchos, among other cultures, in capturing cattle and game. Certain types of spider are also known to hunt with a 'web-bola'.
