Chiral crystals timefall

Chiral crystals forming in timefall

Chiral crystals are protrusions of chiralium in the shape of grasping hands, hence the name.

Overview[]

These crystals are native to the other side and can also be found in timefall-touched areas in the world of the living. Chiral crystals can be found in various sizes, although it is not yet clear what determines their dimensions. Due to their nature, chiral crystals cannot be collected by hand but through the use of a Crystal Collector, which can harvest them out in the field and transport them safely. As with other materials, the amount of chiral crystals stored in a prepper's shelter and in a Bridges' installation can increase while Sam is busy completing main objectives or deliveries somewhere else[1].

Chiral Crystals have a variety of uses, most of which are related to powering important structures, vehicles and equipments, increasing their resistance to the timefall and the overall durability. The most notable piece of equipment that runs on chiral crystals is the floating carrier, which is a small contraption that can carry either cargo or Sam on its back. Regardless of what someone wants the Floating Carrier to carry, it needs a large supply of chiral crystals to use it, although it's well worth it to make easier deliveries. Chiral crystals can also be used to fabricate more powerful ammunition for fighting BTs.

Timefall-touched areas are excellent places for collecting crystals, such as in the forest near the Wind Farm. Another means of collecting high quantity of crystals is to defeat catchers, since their bodies shatter into many chiral crystals. Alternatively, cutting the umbilical cord of a BT via the cuff links, will cause a crystal to grow at the point of disappearance.
