Ciudad Nudo del Norte is the largest surviving city in Mexico.

History

Three years before the UCA was established, the first Bridges expedition set off from Central Knot City on the east coast of North America to establish the infrastructure for the chiral network. Halfway through the expedition the group split in two: one team, led by Amelie, proceeded towards the west coast while the other headed south, towards Mexico. Ciudad Nudo del Norte (C1) was the first knot city that the Bridges expedition founded after crossing the border, at the southern shores of the Rio Grande.

Despite the presence of the Bridges stations, the lack of connection to the network does not make life easier for the population: as C1 lacked the equipment to properly dispose of dead bodies, the people instead used a nearby tar pit to bury them. Unfortunately, overuse of it led to the creation of a BT zone near the city, which made it much more difficult to continue using it. In an attempt to prevent the emergence of BTs, they had instead facilitated their creation.

Unable to dispose of the bodies, the incessant timefall in the area, and the ever-worsening chiral contamination, C1 faced a rising suicide rate, increasing the number of bodies they could not properly dispose of.

Post-UCA Establishment

During his expedition to connect Mexico to the chiral network for Drawbridge, Sam must deliver the Chiral Network Gateway to C1 as a first step to bring it into the fold and thus avoid the risk of a fatal voidout. The porter passes through the Border Bridge, now a Bandit outpost, and a massive sandstorm before managing to reach C1 and deliver the Gateway, which finally allows the city to properly dispose of the bodies and enter the UCA network.
