The Collector is a prepper and one of Sam's delivery recipients.
Story[]
Background[]
The Collector grew up as a prepper in the Central Region with his father, who was an editor of a popular magazine, one that published hints and strategies for beating popular video games. Over the years, his father amassed a large number of magazines and newspapers, all of which The Collector was free to peruse growing up. Not long before the Stranding, digital media rose to prominence, which spelled the end for print publications. Because of the Internet, anyone could produce content, and anyone could consume said content, and everyone can become their own editors. The Collector's father stuck with print publications, earning himself the nickname “The Last Editor-In-Chief.”
After his father passed away, The Collector took up the mantle and continued to expand his father's collection.
Sam's Westward Expedition[]
Sam made contact with him during his westward expedition to get him to join the UCA and the Chiral Network. While pining for the good old days, he knows he must to do his best to live in the present, that being the reason he joined the UCA and the network. Although amazed by how the Chiral Network can be used to send physical objects for instantaneous transmission, The Collector is aware that he must still call upon porters such as Sam to transport medicines, food, and other organic goods. Despite this weakness, he thinks that the UCA’s future is bright.
At some point, the Collector began to write and publish the monthly Hamamura’s Porter Chronicles, a series of articles on the world of deliveries, and the post-stranding world.
