In an interview with Vogue Japan, Hideo Kojima reveals his ambition to expand the saga into new languages and his vision for the future of the franchise. Speaking about the live-action Death Stranding film, which is in development with A24, Kojima said that he wants to make a version of the Death Stranding story that is only possible a film, compelling enough to win prestigious film awards, before briefly revealing that he is also working on an anime adaptation as a separate project.[1]
During the Beyond the Strand event, the studio's 10th anniversary event, Hideo Kojima gave an official first look at the new animated film set in the world of Death Stranding, working title Death Stranding: Mosquito is currently in production at ABC Animation Studio, a relatively young company founded in April 2016 (a few months after Kojima launched his own software house). Directing, a key aspect of Kojima's career, has been entrusted to Hiroshi Miyamoto, while the scenario script is by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners and Raised by Wolves), with Kojima serving as producer. It was also revealed that Mosquito is being animated with hand-drawn lines that are then digitally used to assemble the animation itself with Studio Easter, which worked on Dandadan, is doing the film's backgrounds.
"Mosquito", which in addition to the working title of the film is also the name of the main character, is described as "who can suck...something. Not blood! Just something."
