Death Stranding is a series of strand action games created and written by Hideo Kojima and developed by Kojima Productions. In Death Stranding, players control a porter who is tasked to make deliveries all over the continent to reconnect it and advoiding the Last Stranding, an otherwordly phenomenon that can put an end to humanity.
Death Stranding pioneered the Social Strand System and features a lot of real life actors for the ingame characters. Other elements include: lengthy cinematic cutscenes and intricate storylines which explore the nature of politics, science, human relationships and a lot of social, cultural, religious and philosophical themes.
By March 2021, the game had sold over 5 million copies worldwide.[1] By March 2025, the total player count has surpassed 20 million player.[2]
