The Doctor is a prepper and delivery recipient of Sam's. As his name suggests, he is a doctor.
Story[]
Background[]
The doctor was born at some point before the Death Stranding and, during is study he got a medical license, though the governing body that issued it to him no longer exist in this time. After the Stranding he used to be a doctor working in a knot city, but soon become hard for him to ignore the sick out there. During this time he met and later married a woman who not only admired him but also shared his medical thinking. While most folks haul themselves to a city hospital when there's something wrong, preppers can't so he decide to go out the city with his wife, and become the prepper's doctor, even if the global situation, the difficulty of recovering tools and materials and the not always possibility of going to his patients in person made his task complicated and sometimes difficult.
At some point he heard that Bridges was trying to bring everyone into their chiral network, hoping that would be a real game changer as the network could help him perform all sorts of diagnoses and even some treatments without having to leave the shelter.
Sam's Westward Expedition[]
Sam made contact with him during his westward expedition to get him to join the UCA and the chiral network during a delivery for help his wife developed a medical terminal and a bio printer, two device that will help the not only the Doctor, but also city doctors that will not be able to ignore the sick out there anymore. The Doctor later send an emergency request to Sam: the mountaineer’s wife becomes sick, presumably due to complications from pregnancy and the antibiotics have no effect, and Sam must deliver the specialized bio printer to the mountaineer's shelter. In doing so, not only the Doctor was able to treat her from afar, but also to saved her life and allowed her to carry her baby to term.
While the medical terminal has proven to be fit for his purposes, the need to have a terminal in every prepper's shelter and the need to have qualified personnel to help preppers are still a problem. The Doctor theorizes the possibility of teaching AIs how to do it, given the feedback on delivery bots, but remains skeptical as the use of AIs would further distance preppers from urban centers, thus continuing to separate them from the community instead of bringing them together. Despite the doubts, however, the Doctor can only recognize the benefits of the chiral network, hoping for the future and reward Sam with special plasma bags.
