The WellMax WM.556 NL Assault Rifle is a modular rifle, derived from its lethal counterpart, designed and manufactured for the United States Army by WellMax.
Overview[]
The WM.556 was originally developed form the US Army's airbone division as a folding assault carbine, so it can be easily transported and reassembled in mere seconds. Following the Death Stranding, it's design was adapted by the Bridges as a multi-purpose assault rifle, becoming their standard-issue rifle. The WM.556 NL version was later designed as a non-lethal model, converted from a training unit, utilizing rubber bullets. Like it's lethal counterpart, disassembled components of the rifle are stored and carried in a cargo case, attached to the Bridges suit, and can be quickly assembled when the need arises.
Since the rifle doesn't use Sam's blood in the base variant, it is useless against the BTs but, unlike its lethal counterpart, since the WM.556 NL fires rubber bullets that stun the target instead of killing it, this allows a much safer approach in battles against human enemies, thus avoiding the formation of potential voidout.
Being extremely modular, the WM.556 NL can be improved with additional accessories, like a scope mount, hematic rounds, cheek pad, a grip adapter and even a suppressor. Due to this factors it is used not only by Bridges Security Team, and for extension by Sam, but also by the MULEs, in the base version. Also, a custom variant is present, the HG Custom, wich can shot golden bullets coated with chiralium, making it even more effective against BTs.

Notes[]
- Like is lethal counterpart, the WM.556 NL seems heavily inspired by the FN SCAR-H.
- The rifles always store 30 rounds per magazine, with another 90 rounds in reserve. The Lv. 2 weapon stores 120 rounds in reserve, and Lv. 3 capacity is increased to 150. As with other weapons, Sam's ammo stores can be replenished by resting in a Safe House.
- The scope mounted on the upgraded models includes the text "FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT/BDG USE" stamped on one side.
