One of Sam's floating carriers

A floating carrier is an item used to transport cargo when deployed. Due to its ability to float, the carrier is unhindered to any rough terrain. Carriers slowly consume Sam's chiral crystals as they are used. A carrier will stop automatically when its supply of crystals is depleted.

Floating Carrier (Lv. 1) is obtained from Alex Weatherstone at Weather Station by completing Order 27: Chiralium Gauge Delivery: Weather Station. Floating Carrier (Lv. 2) is unlocked by getting a 3-star connection with Alex Weatherstone.

In-Game Description[edit | edit source]

Floating Carrier (Lv. 1)[edit | edit source]

A floating tractor cart that travels largely unimpeded over rough terrain. Carriers are automatically deployed when placed in the field, and can then be loaded with cargo and attached to the waist. Carriers use chiralium to float, and expend chiral crystals while in use. They can also be used as a mode of transport, and up to two can be joined together.

Floating Carrier (Lv. 2)[edit | edit source]

An improved version of the Floating Carrier (Lv. 1) that is capable of carrying more cargo.

Carriers are automatically deployed when placed in the field, and can then be loaded with cargo and attached to the waist. They can also be used as a means of transport, and up to two can be joined together.

Carriers use chiralium to float, and expend chiral crystals while in use.

Capacity[edit | edit source]

Floating Carrier (Lv. 1) can carry up to 300kg and up to 6 XL containers in volume (see conversions).

Floating Carrier (Lv. 2) can carry up to 600kg and also up to 6 XL containers in volume.

All carriers can also hold 2 body bags each containing corpses only.

Crystal Consumption[edit | edit source]

Consumption Rate[edit | edit source]

Floating carriers consume chiral crystals at the same rate regardless of load or movement. Crystals will be expended as long as you are connected to a carrier.

Floating Carrier (Lv. 1) consumes ~20 crystals per hour. One crystal lasts ~3 minutes.

Floating Carrier (Lv. 2) consumes ~30 crystals per hour. One crystal lasts ~2 minutes.

When two carriers are linked together, their consumption is stacked. For instance, Lv. 1 and Lv. 2 carriers used together will consume ~50 crystals per hour.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

Each carrier will pull one crystal out of your inventory into its internal "fuel tank" and will draw from that until empty. Once the crystal is used up it will be replaced with another. When the number of crystals in Sam's inventory reaches zero, all carriers will stop regardless of how much internal "fuel" is left. This mechanic becomes relevant when linking a Lv. 1 and Lv. 2 carrier together as they consume crystals at different rates. Upon reconnecting to the carrier(s) with more crystals, any remaining internal crystal will be used before any are drawn from Sam's inventory.

The internal fuel condition will not reset until a save game is loaded. It will persist through packing the carrier onto Sam's back or even storing it in a private locker. When loading a save game, the "fuel" level of all carriers is set to zero. If you connect to an "empty" carrier with 1 crystal in Sam's inventory, the crystal will be removed to fill the internal storage and the carrier will not function because Sam has no more crystals.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Sam and BB riding a floating carrier.

  • Jumping will cause any carriers you are pulling to "jump" with you.
  • You can ride a tethered carrier as long as it's empty, even when you are linking two carriers together.
