Fragile's Father was the owner and founder of the logistic company Fragile Express and the father of Fragile.
Story[]
Prior to the Death Stranding, Fragile's Father worked for a private logistics company, and, after the Stranding, he and some friends figured they were in a position to bring people supplies and repair vital infrastructure to help survivors live. Thus, the “Fragile Express" was born. During this time, he met a fellow female porter who was making various deliveries for both preppers and the government of the UCA. The two eventually married and conceived a daughter, named after their company, Fragile, to whom both parents made a promise to rebuild America by the time she grew up.
However, twelve years later during one delivery, his wife discovered the terrible truth about the packages that they were taking to a UCA facility, left the company, and abandoning her husband and daughter for their own good, became the terrorist Coffin in the process. Believing that they could, bit by bit, make America whole again, Fragile's Father and his daughter became the point of reference for the survivors in the central region, reaching the point of rivaling Bridges of the eastern region, even arriving in that region via their freighter making port to Port Knot City.
At one point however, Fragile's Father died, with his daughter becoming the new CEO of the company, carrying on her father's legacy.
The Racetrack[]
Besides all his work as a porter and CEO of Fragile Express, Fragile's Father was the one behind the idea of building a "dream racetrack" for the entertainment of the inhabitants of the central region and local preppers, with a plan of building it near the Timefall Farmers' place. Everybody work together, managing to get the racetrack terminal set up in double-quick time but, a series of terroristic attacks in the region and the late death of Fragile's Father stopped the construction of the racetrack.
However, years later during his expedition, Sam Porter finally completed the racetrack, just south of the Timefall Farm, and Thomas Southerland recognized Fragile's Father as the one who had the original idea of the first racetrack in the UCA.
Personality[]
Fragile's Father was so charismatic that, after the Death Stranding, he was able to gather his former colleagues around him and found a company to distribute food and reconnect the survivors of the region. His ideals about what America stood for and how great it was as a nation were so strong that not only did he pass them on to his daughter, but he made them a boost for their work.
Through his work as a porter, Fragile's Father met the woman who would become his wife and mother of his daughter. However, by the time their daughter was 12, his marriage would end after his wife became the extremist rebel known as Coffin. Though he never hated his wife for her choice, he had to raise his daughter by himself while running Fragile Express. Because of this, he would develop a strong bond with Fragile.
Fragile's Father was a fan of motor racing, so much so that he wore a motorcyclist's suit and had started building a racetrack, with the intention of entertaining and uniting the community of the region. Unfortunately, he would never see his "dream circuit" come true due to the subsequent terrorist attacks and his death.
Notes[]
- In the only known photo of Fragile's father, he is wearing a jacket very similar to the one his daughter would wear years later, but it cannot be excluded that it may be the same, given the strong bond that united them.
- Fragile's Father's is the only character who does not have his name revealed, neither in the game nor in emails or interviews.
- According to Thomas Southerland, Fragile's Father was "cary for motor racing".
- It is interesting to note that, in the only existing photo of the man, he has a rope attached to his waist, just as Sam would do many years after him.
