The Golden Mask is a unique artifact that once magnified Higgs's power. Due to its strong connection with the other side, wearing it allows Sam to strengthen any BT he summons in his fight against another Catcher.

It is unlocked as a reward for completing Death Stranding 2, but one is required to reach Level 4 Connection with Mr. Impossible in order to unleash its true power.

Overview[]

A symbol that earned Higgs his nickname "The Man in the Golden Mask", this mysterious object was also a testament to his power at the time he led the Homo Demens. The skull-shaped mask allegedly symbolised death and channelled Higgs's connection between the world of the living and the dead, allowing him to summon and even control BTs at will. He also used it to intimidate and control human beings, robbing them from their free will as long as they were wearing the mask.

The golden mask has changed hands multiple times, and was kept for a while by Fragile before Higgs was left stranded on the Beach. When Sam eventually earned the mask after defeating Higgs for good, he gained the power to strengthen any catcher he would summon, provided that he would wear the mask when doing so.

Description[]

Notes[]

  • Higgs, Amelie, Sam and Deadman all worn the mask at one point, willingly or not.
  • The same model is used in both games, although the mask appears to be more detailled and refined in Death Stranding 2 due to better graphics.
