Highway

Highways, also known as Roads, are a massive series of structures that appear in the Central Region and are created at Auto-Pavers. They allow for easy traversal over difficult or dangerous terrain. Two routes are available to build on: Route 23, which connects Lake Knot City to South Knot City, and 41, which diverges from Route 23 around the Craftsman's shelter and takes a detour around the mountain, through the marshes and eventually reaching Mountain Knot City.

Construction[]

In order to build a stretch of highway, players must deposit a certain number of Ceramics, Metals, and Chiral crystals into Auto-Pavers, located along the highway. Each Auto-Paver requires a different amount of these materials. Similar to other structures, Auto-Pavers accumulate resources from other players once they are on the Chiral Network. If not on the network, they will start at zero resources. Once completed, a short cutscene will play depicting the Auto-Paver printing the stretch of highway.

Like any other structure in the game, the highway requires maintenance, otherwise it will deteriorate and disappear. You can fix the roads with ceramics, metals and chiral crystals.

Routes[]

There are two routes in the Central Region. UC Route 23 and UC Route 41.

UC Route 23[]

UC Route 23 begins in Lake Knot City at UC Route 23-1 and concludes at South Knot City at UC Route 23-18. There are two intersections with UC Route 41 along the route. With UC Route 41-1 meeting the route outside the Craftsman's shelter at UC Route 23-6. While UC Route 41-33 concludes at Distribution Centre South of Lake Knot City, and UC Route 23-10.

The route passes through two MULE territories. With UC Route 23-2 located within the MULE territory closest to Lake Knot City. While UC Route 23-5 is located within the territory closest to the Craftsman.

UC Route 41[]

UC Route 41 is a large loop that begins just outside the Craftsman's shelter at UC Route 41-1 and finishes at the Distribution Centre South of Lake Knot City at UC Route 41-33. The route also connects the Distribution Centre North of Mountain Knot City, Incinerator West of Lake Knot City and Mountain Knot City. It passes through two terrorist camps. With UC Route 41-9 and 10 passing through the forest camp closest to the Incinerator. While UC Route 41-16,17 and 18 are all located within the camp within the plains section, outside the Distribution Centre North of Mountain Knot City. These pavers can be difficult to build due to their location. UC Route 41-24-28 are located within the snowy mountainous section of the map, and can prove difficult to build due to their remote location.

Notes[]

  • Should an Auto-Paver be on the Chiral Network, stretches of highway may populate in the player's world without ever having donated to them.
  • Highways do not take up any Chiral Network Bandwidth.
  • Auto-pavers on completed roads do not display player screen names and will show zero likes. However, players will receive Likes automatically when other players travel on roads they have built or roads they have donated to.
  • The centerline of each stretch of highway is on the power grid and will provide unlimited power for the batteries of Vehicles and other equipment, allowing you to slowly recharge your Battery if traveling on a road in sunny or cloudy weather.
  • Each stretch of highway has a massive amount of durability and will deteriorate over time from Timefall.
  • Beached things do not normally appear on the road, though sections of both Routes are in close enough proximity to BT Areas to trigger a warning and activate BB's Odradek sensor.
  • MULEs and Terrorists usually avoid roads, despite several sections cutting through their territory, although they will still become aggressive and try to attack. Due to the fact that they can disable your truck with electric javelin throws or damage it with gunfire, it is advised to speed up when in such areas. On the other hand, the elevated sections can provide cover to easily dispatch the enemies from long range. Although MULEs can still access roads with their own trucks. They are known to drive off elevated sections with no regard to their safety.
  • There are no highways at all in the Eastern Region.
