Mads Mikkelsen is a Danish character actor who provided the English voice, appearance, and motion capture for Cliff in Death Stranding.[1]
Before becoming an actor, Mikkelsen was a trained gymnast and professional dancer, the latter of which he did for nearly a decade. He would pursue a career in acting to explore his more dramatic side.
He is best known, outside of Denmark for portraying the serial killer and cannibal, Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the NBC series Hannibal (2013–2015), and films such as Marvel's Doctor Strange (2016) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). His most notable role was probably that of Le Chiffre, Bond's archenemy in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. In his home country, he tends to take on roles in many movies with controversial or social messages, as well as comedy.

Notes[]
- In an interview, Mikkelsen revealed that though he understands some of Death Stranding's intended message, much of what Hideo Kojima told him regarding the game still puzzles him.[2] He has described Death Stranding as a "labyrinthine game" of which he has seen nothing like before, with a story "completely out of this world".[3]
- Mikkelsen has stated that, "The characters are very dualistic in [Kojima's] games: There is no such thing as a bad guy or a good guy in his games."[3]
- Mikkelsen met Kojima through a mutual friend, Nicolas Winding Refn.[1]
