The Evo-Devo Biologist is a Bridges researcher living in the mountains southwest of Heartman's lab.
Story[]
Background[]
The Evo-Devo BIologist was born after the Death Stranding, so her conception of what the world once was, free of the timefall, no chiral clouds and where humans could travel anywhere, even into space, and we were blissfully unaware of the Beach's existence, was derived entirely from documents, photographs and video. This prompted her to start studying not only the Stranding but also the Beach and the tar, ending up intriguing even Heartman.
During her study, she theorizes that DOOMS may simply be humanity's way of trying to adapt and survive, even if she fear that not even DOOMS will prove sufficient to endure the extinction.
Bridges I[]
She is than hired by Bridges and chosen as a special member of a group of researchers, lead by Heartman, of the first expedition, led by Amelie, to connect communities to the newly Chiral Network, and study the Beach and Death Stranding. Like all the other members, however, the Evo-Devo has never met Amelie in person, as she is part of the advanced team. Once installed in the area north of Mountain Knot City, the team of scientists began to reveal an anomaly in the tar belt around Edge Knot City, tar that surfaced to the surface, devouring Heartman's other colleagues and a secondary station, essential for expand the Chiral Network to the west thus remaining disconnected.
Sam's Westward Expedition[]
During his expedition, Sam was ordered to delivers the Tar Extraction Device and Ammonite from the Paleontoligst to the Evo-Devo, finally connecting her to the Chiral Network and the UCA. The tar analysis from the Device reveal that it contained chemical compounds which bore a striking resemblance to D-amino acids, implying a possible new future form of life. At some point she request Sam a specific tar example that lead to a speculation: the tar is a gateway to "the past" it has consumed, objects submerged in concentrations of this tar are partially if not entirely transported elsewhere and could theoretically return through the tar once more.

Notes[]
- While she is never referred to by name in the game, according to her name tag, her full name is Mary Dickens.
- Her shelter is located far Southwest of Heartman's Lab, and Northwest of the Paleontologist Prepper, at the edge of a large ruined Volcanic Observatory now crawling with BTs.
