A memory chip is a collectible item found throughout the world of Death Stranding. They represent the memory or memories of life--before the Death Stranding extinction event and subsequent destruction of the United States--including objects, films, music, vehicles, and more.
There are a total of 56 memory chips that can be recovered. They do not require to be collected before finishing all the episodes of Death Stranding, and can be collected anytime after completing the story. However, some memory chips only become available upon reading specific mail after its respective facility reaches a certain connection level.
Upon recovering a memory chip, Sam can donate them to a delivery terminal before being able to view the data.
