Mountain Knot City is a city in the central region of the United Cities of America and it's overseen by Lockne.

History[]

Mountain Knot City was built after the Death Stranding, in the central part of the region, at the foot of the snowy mountain range that divides the central region in two and the last part of the highway Route 21. During the Bridges I westward expedition, led by Amelie, the expedition team was able to convince the city to join the UCA and connect to the Chiral Network, and Aaron Hill was appointed as the Head of Distribution of the facility.

Sometime following Bridges I, leadership of the city was given to Lockne, who decide to remain here while waiting for her sister, Mama, to give birth to her child, that she conceived with the sperm of the man she loved but who died on the way and whom she could not carry. When the accident occurred to Mama and Lockne's child, an accident that she never know until later, Lockne felt she’d been betrayed by the one person she trusted more than anyone, leading her to reject the ideal of reconstructionism and isolate Mountain Knot from the chiral network she had helped create.

At some point, a tar belt unexpectedly began forming just outside the Mountain Knot distribution center, putting the entire city at risk. It was until Aaron send an emergency order to Bridges HQ, that Sam came and delivered an antimatter bomb to solve the situation and try to connect Mountain Knot City to the chiral network. Unfortunately Aaron was unable to connect the Q-pid because Lockne stopped him. Aaron asked Sam to go and talk to Mama about it so that both can start speaking to each other again and let the city to finally be connected. When Sam finally took Mama to Mountain Knot, Lockne let Aaron to connect the city to the UCA.

Notes[]

  • The current population of Mountain Knot City is 84,014 inhabitants.
  • As the name implies, it is nestled in a mountain range, likely the Rocky Mountains.
  • Mountain Knot is a city, together with Middle Knot, in the UCA that does not have a K suffix. This is likely due to the fact that Lockne's break with Bridges occurred in the early stages of its settlement and the town did not yet have an official suffix.
  • Mountain Knot City is the only knot city without an in-built vehicle Generator.
