The WM.556 Non-Lethal Assault Rifle is a fully automatic non-lethal anti-personnel weapon, manufactured by WellMax, that Sam can use to defend himself against enemies.

The WM.556 NL is a Non-Lethal Anti-Personnel Weapon, adapted from the standard WM.556 assault rifle originally developed for the U.S. Army’s airborne division. Following the Death Stranding, Bridges modified the design into a non-lethal model, repurposing training units to fire rubber rounds. Like its lethal counterpart, the rifle disassembles into compact components that can be stored in a cargo case and quickly reassembled in the field.
The Level 1 rifle does not use Sam’s blood, making it ineffective against BTs. However, its non-lethal rubber ammunition makes it ideal for subduing human threats without risking a voidout. Highly customizable, the WM.556 NL supports various attachments, including optical sights, suppressors, and even hematic upgrades. In addition to being issued to Sam, the WM.556 NL is also used by Bridges Security Team and, in its unmodified form, by MULEs. A custom version, the HG Custom, is also capable of firing chiralium-coated golden rounds, making it far more effective against BTs.

These allow for instant aiming, and greatly reduce the amount of noise produced.

Notes[]
- The design data for the gun is given to Sam as a reward for reaching Connection Level 1 with the Waystation North of Mountain Knot City.
- Because the HG Custom fires golden rounds, this means that it will expend chiral crystals.
- The rifle will continue to fire for as long as the trigger is held, but the longer the burst of fire, the less accurate it will become.
- Like its lethal counterpart, the WM.556 NL seems to be heavily inspired by the FN SCAR-H.
- The scope mounted on upgraded models includes the text "FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT / BDG USE".
- The rifle's magazine well reads: "FOR HUNT / VARMINT USE".
