The Novelist's Son is a prepper and delivery recipient of Sam's.

Story[]

Background[]

The Novelist's Son grew up a prepper in the mountainous area of Central Region with his father, who was a very famous novelist in the world pre-Stranding, and also something of a gourd enthusiast. As soon as he got bored, he’d pick up his canteen, made from a gourd, and start wandering again. During this time his father tell him all sorts of tales about his travels, about the lands that lay beyond the oceans and even about people going to the moon. At some point the Novelist's Son end up shut away in a shelter, the opposite of his father's way of live.

However, after his father passed away, his son felt compelled to carry on his legacy one way or another, and since he is no wordsmith, he really only had one choice: grow his father's groud.

At some point he begin to heard of rumoros about Sam and his mission to try and rebuild the America of yore, even if he think this has anything to do with him or agreed with the principle. He think that one day humans will find a way to live outside their shelters, and that the last thing they need is to be tied down to some idea of ‘America’. That’s why he won't joining the UCA.

Sam's Westward Expedition[]

Sam made contact with him during his westward expedition to get him to join the UCA and the chiral network. Although at the beginning, due to his ideas, the Novelist's Son did not want to enter the UCA, even if he benefited from Sam's deliveries, as he continued to cultivate grouds he found similarities with the world around him. At some point, after a lot of thought, he decided to join the UCA, intrigued to learn that the world is full of talismans, like Sam's dreamcatcher, Amelie’s quipu, ad his gourds.

At some point, he found several new type of cryptobiote inside one of his gourd. He figured that a cryptobiote from a gourd’s got to be a bit special, so he decided to chow down on one to see what would happen. The effect was practically immediate, like he’d fallen into some kind of dreamland. [1]He decide than to give some of them to Sam, to help him trought his journey.
