South Knot City is a city in the central region of the United Cities of America.
History[]
South Knot City city was built after the Death Stranding, in the southeast part of the region, near a vulcanic area with a voidout crater that filled up with tar. During the Bridges I westward expedition, led by Amelie, the expedition team was able to convince the city to join the UCA and connect to the Chiral Network, and Owen Southwick was appointed as the Head of Distribution of the facility.
Given the distance from other cities and the particularly inaccessible area, the city often used the services of the Fragile Express, which is why, after the destruction of Middle Knot City, the Homo Demens targeted the city. Fortunately Fragile discovered the intentions of her ex-partner, Higgs, and intercepted the thermonuclear bomb he intended to "deliver" to the city's distribution center. Unfortunately she was discovered, captured, and faced with two choices: to escape and have the city destroyed or to take the nuke into the tar and be soaked with timefall. Fragile chose the latter option, resulting in minimized damage to the city, in exchange for rapidly aging her body from exposure to timefall. During this time, Mama, who had decided to stay there because she was pregnant, was close to giving birth. The resulting attack by the Demens destroyed the portion of the hospital where she was being treated, trapping her under the rubble. Eventually, Mama was saved, but she lost her baby.
After this event, the city remained mostly isolated from the rest of the region, making life difficult for the population. It was only thanks to Sam that both a second attack was averted and the city was finally connected to the network.

Mama's Lab[]
Mama's Lab was originally an external Bridges hospital facility. Unfortunately, during a turbulent period, the city and the facility were attacked by the Homo Demens, and half of the facility was destroyed. Mama was caught under the rubble in the explosion and trapped there for several days. She eventually was saved by a squad but lost her baby, who remain attached to her as a BT. Due to this particular condition, Mama had the intact half of the structure refurbished, thus making it her laboratory, isolating herself from all the members of Bridges and cutting the connections with her sister, Lockne, from whom the fertilized egg of the child came. Due to the facility's proximity to voidout craters, the area suffers from frequent timefall.
