The Government's Base is a small settlement in Australia and delivery recipients of Sam's.

Overview

Background

In the aftermath of the Death Stranding, many survivors in Australia wanted to rebuild their nation so, those who had been involved in pre-Stranding politics assumed the role of an interim government in order to establish a new administration to fill the void left by Australia’s collapse.

At some point, the group became known as the Government, as the concept of formal governance is a distant memory to most so they opted for a simple name, with Old Oz becoming their leader. However, the government's and Oz spirit of reconstruction leads to the formation of violent groups opposing it, which has led to the establishment of a private army, lead by a talented sniper, to defend itself.

Post-UCA Establishment

When the establishment of the chiral network spurred the creation of the first plate gate, connecting North America to Australia, confirming to Mexico and the UCA that the Australian continent had survived the Death Stranding, even more dramatic environmental phenomena (floods, incessant timefall, gate quakes, desertification, leaking tar, etc.) are beginning to occur, with also anomalous chiralium levels in the zone, leading the formation of a BT area, with the presence of the Watcher-type, not far from the settlement.

Upon the gate's discovery, it became theorized that expanding the chiral network to the Australian continent would repeat the phenomenon, and for this reason, APAC, which now managed the chiral network on behalf of the UCA, prepared an expedition to cross the gate and install terminals, fort cities and infrastructure for the expansion of the network, with the government's base as one of the nodes.

Sam's Australian Expedition

During his expedition to connect Australia to the chiral network for Drawbridge, Sam must connect several facilities in sequence on his way to the closest city to here, West Fort Knot, with the Government's base as the first of his list. Unfortunatelly the people of the base are currently suffering from the effects of severe chiral contamination, but with UCA technology, and thanks to the decontamination unit, they make a full recovery and thus resume the reconstruction plan while helping Sam and Drawbridge in the process.
